Parliamentary Procedure RSS FeedsIron Man was GOOD - When I spoke with Jason yesterday, he said Iron Man was good. And he was right. And his Jason continues forever - amen.Speed Racer looks bad. Alissa's dad saw it. He said the most subdued color in the entire thing was "neon yellow". He actually thought it was good for fans who knew the storyline from the original show but otherwise might be confused to newcomers. I feel like that's the real hurdle - we're talking about a show which is being marketed as:a) a throwback to the old cartoon series (30-40 somethings?)b) fast & the furious for the kids whose parents won't let them see iron manc) the hip matrix bros crazy light showThat's some poor targeting. We're making baked potatoes. Thank you wikihow! Tomorrow I head to Boston for a one-day work trip and then will complete in the luge and skelton on the willernie sled. A world record?! - Alissa didn't realize I was serious, but after watching "KING OF KONG" a few weeks ago twice in one day, I determined that my latest S.L.O. (Short Lived Obsession) would be SETTING A WORLD RECORD SPEEDRUN IN MANIAC MANSION FOR NES. I've been practicing for a few weeks and so far, I've been able to whittle away at my time. I went to the Classic Gaming Expo in Oconomowoc, WI last summer and it was pretty cool. I hope sometime to go to one which has a bigger arcade, but it was pretty groovy.Even more nifty, Alissa & I got a pet Schnoodle this week whom we named Meliora (Mel for short).ROCK. It is warmer in Arizona~! - It's snowing here. This is not "happy making fun rock snow". This is "I can't believe we are getting several inches of snow and it's almost April in Minnesota" snow. GRRR~!So, instead I will post something from Summer of 2006 that makes me laugh. Here goes the Ninja with the Ninja review of the Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest.OK, I don't want to spoil it for anybody who might not have seen it yet so I'll tell you this one little thing, just to give you some context - It's a horrible movie.I went and did the research on like how they came up with this movie and basically, it was inspired by old-school robot pirates. Like, like, I'm talking Chuckie Cheese style, like sub-Chuckie cheese style. That is where they were starting from the movie and then they basically took a step backwards. It?s worse than bad, animatronics pirates. The structure of the movie, the best... Colin Delaney Tracker - My friend Colin Delaney has signed a multi-year deal to work for WWE. I'm very proud of him. Since I don't live in Rochester anymore, I rarely have the opportunity to see my friends from AWF, but we still talk pretty regularly. It's really so incredible to consider that someone I've known for many years, someone who was at my wedding, someone who attends our private little Christmas party every year, is now an official television superstar.I threw together this webpage so just I could track all his matches while so many people are posting them on Youtube each week. ROCK.http://colin-delaney-tracker.blogspot.com/... Backstreet Boys? They rock my world! - Great Google SearchesI was surprised to find that the specific phrase, "Backstreet Boys Rock my World" was not going to yield only hits to this blog. When I was in High School, I put up letters around my basement that said that exact phrase in reference to a real conversion Adam Bachman had when we were in Atlanta, GA for the LCMS Youth Gathering. (I should note that Adam was not the one who held this opinion. More, it was whatever weird Florida kid he was talking to.) The best part was that when you entered my basement, because of how I had hung the letters, it simply said, "BOYS ROCK MY WORLD". Which must certainly be true?... Must be getting used to it. - It was zero when I drove home from work today. I didn't even notice it.That is a cold February day. ALAS!Rock yourself.... Pie, Humble. - I even watched part of the Super Bowl yesterday. (I always remember that Super Bowl is two words because of the whole, "BOY I LOVE LOSING SUPERBOWLS" BILLS joke from the early 90s.) I was also watching a SWANK Dragons Gate match on youtube during Q4. I resolve to watch at least one pro-wrestling match every day this week. I also played lots of "ROMANCE OF THE THREE KINGDOMS II" on SNES while laying in bed. It was a great day!Yup - the Giants won. I was happy because I'm all about underdogs. I remember when I got yelled at for attending a Syracuse Orangemen basketball game and cheering their opponents. (I don't remember who, so I'll guess it was XAVIER.) Tonight I'm teaching Improv. Tomorrow I'm attending Republican Caucas. I am going to vote for McCain. I even took the NPR survey and confirmed it yesterda... Chris is a COGsaurus. - I'm starting to understand the Myspace/Facebook over the LJ. I still VASTLY prefer LJ posting to social networking sites, but I see how as your time available to browse online decreases, the desire to aggregate everything neatly increases. Yeah, there's RSS feeds and whatever that whole mini-SMS lifecasting thing, but I don't do that. I play Maniac Mansion on emulator. I long for more time to play Breakout clones on Atari. I am not ready to deal with an internet stream. This is probably why my podcast has gone down the tubes in the past few months.Work has been increasingly devouring my freetime. Actually, I guess you could say it consumes my worktime. And some of my traveltime. We moved to Minnetonka/Hopkins Minnesota which is nifty in many ways. It also means a longer commute for Mookie so I tend to spend about 45 minutes each way driving in my Aztek. So far, it hasn't driven me batty. It's been really cold here in St. Paul. We finally got rain yesterday and ... Ahoy! - Alissa & I celebrated our anniversary yesterday with a gathering of friends & family. In the end, numbers weren't quite as high as initially projected so we were able to fit everyone into our living room and entertain them using the Wii! Alissa did a wonderful job cooking pot-stickers and spring rolls, so we'll have plenty of yummy Chinese food treats for the next week. Plus, no less than TWO cakes. It's a sugar-funhouse! And a clean house - the place looks great from top to bottom.Brandon, Keith & I watched the 2008 Royal Rumble last night. Please check the MVN website for my thoughts on that PPV. It was good! This week is rock and work. I went to St. Cloud on Saturday and did an improv gig wearing Hawaiian attire. How was your week?... Posted, Monday, 21-Feb-2000 01:39:58 - Wacky New Blog related to my new improv team: http://stevieraysteamz.blogspot.com/Fun things:* Reading a few interesting books: - The Glorious Deception: The Double Life of William Robinson, aka Chung Ling Soo, the "Marvelous Chinese Conjurer" by Jim Steinmeyer- Best American Crime Reporting 2007 edited by by Linda Fairstein, Otto Penzler and Thomas H. Cook. (I Have 2006 and 2005, also. Except, it used to be called "Best American Crime Writing". Apparently, there was confusion about whether this made it clear that the stories were published non-fiction. So they changed the name this year. Also, Canadian writers & publications are eligible. Yeah, go figure! I'd love to get 2003 & 2004 editions.)- Two New ... Get Better Rob! - I am recovering from another Mookieghana Lip Infection (tm). Last week after a really gruelling week where I worked to 2, had a dead car battery and didn't get home until 5 AM, I woke up the next day (for the big presentation to the Senior Management) with a swelling lip. Quickly it became a problem and I had to stay home from work on Friday and visit the doctor. Antibiotics have worked and I am all better now! For a few days, I was pretty loopy, especially because I had to start taking viocidin for the discomfort. However, I am all healed and put back together again!Recently in my DVD player* Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip* DVDVR "Best of the Midsouth/UWF" 10 disc Watts Set* Superbad* Lost: Season TwoTonight & tomorrow I have Improv shows. There is a serious opportunity to bring a substantial donation for "Hands on DC" simply by having the largest number of contributors (not largest amount of money, largest number of unique donors). Would you and could you donate $10 for this group? Please give it a thought.ATTACHED MESSAGE:Hey Friends and Family,Now normally (as you know) I don't directly solicit you for anything-even though I have been volunteering with Hands on DC for a while. I figure if you wanted to participate, you would, and that's quite alright that you don't. This, however, is a rather unique opportunity we have here and so I'm compelled to ask (just asking) if you can help. The contest is detailed below, but it basically works like this:1.) I can barely believe it's still only Wednesday.GOOD: Alissa got updates on her outstanding items which is cause for celebration!NOT-SO-GOOD: Homestead. I drove to St. Paul over my lunchbreak to turn in my records so I would qualify for owning my own home. Deadline is Dec 15. At my closing I was told two lies: a) that I had to do this in person as the homeowner and could not submit by mail or have Alissa do it, b) the office was at the address on the form. After parking downtown (which is a nightmare), I walked to the building only to discover they'd moved. I drove to that location and stood in a line that was marked, "WINDOW CLOSED" for twenty minutes to simply hand a form to someone and be told that was it. No ID check. No questions. The form was already filled out 100% correctly.GOOD: I toured the Novartis Plant today and saw how they make Ovaltine.NOT-SO-GOOD... BRING ME A DOOR SNAKE!
