The Basics of a Make Up Game

It isn't a big secret that little girls like to play around with make up and give perfect little “makeovers” to their dolls, pets, and occasionally lamps. There is a nice little social standard that makeup is for big girls, which means that little girls want it more than anything. You can go ahead and add your favorite “they grow up so fast” line at this point. The big point is that your daughter would probably like to play with make up. I'm also guessing that you would prefer that everything in the house stayed lipstick free. You now have two options.

The first is that you buy a nice doll that is actually made for this. Just about each name brand doll has a life size head that can be used for their little make up experiments. The good ones use a mixture of warm and cold water to activate fake blush and lipstick on the doll. The cruel ones use little makeup toys that trigger the appropriate actions. They are made extra small for your inconvenience. Add in all the other little beauty accessories that will be released and it might cost something slightly less than the value of your soul.

The other option is that you let them work with a make up game at a good online arcade. It is really a simple idea to carry the concept over. It's ultimately just a modified version of paint or photoshop. Instead of paintbrushes and pencils you have lipstick and applicators. Thankfully the simple interface carries over. Your daughter can play these games by selecting the tool and then selecting the color. It is then just a simple issue of making the appropriate clicks and their vision will be carried out. It will probably take them a few tries to really get the hang of the mouse control, but they will learn over time to use simple strokes for big results. It shouldn't be any harder than making over a doll.

The only thing that they may have to learn about would be some of the more complex types of makeovers that they can carry out. They'll usually be able to play around and use blush, creams, shines, highlights, and clippers to change the face and hair to really pull off a complete makeover. If they are confused with the options or don't want to do anything with the model's hair, then they can always leave it alone. A make up game usually acts as more of a blank canvas than an objective driven game. There is no right or wrong way to do it. If they want to set goals for themselves than they obviously could, but for the most part, it is merely a new type of coloring book for the girl who wants to imagine they're the next famous beautician.

That is really all there is to say about playing a make up game. It was only a matter of time before someone adapted the ideas of graphic art to the arcade world. Thankfully this means that your girls will be able to have a full makeover fantasy without the expense or mess of doing it for real.
