Website designing is the formation of Web pages and websites with the help of HTML, JavaScript, CSS and other Web languages. Web designing is just like creating a general design. It is the combination of shapes, texture, lines and color to create an artistic and pleasing look.

People get into web designing because they want to be a good web designer. As a beginner in web designing, they use fancy coding, pretty images and colorful texts. Then gradually they develop a good taste in designing and become more visually creative.

There are few things which we all need to keep in mind while designing a website. The design should not be based on "what you like" instead it should be "what others like". First of all, never assume that just because your site looks better in your browser, that it will look good in all other browsers. Always check your website on all other browsers and Operating Systems that you can get your hands on.

Before creating a website, you need to be sure of the layout, style rules, line lengths for readability, colors used for emphasis and margins for look etc. So, go through the principles of desktop publishing (DTP) because usually we end up creating websites without any formal training in design.

Try to use good log analysis tool for finding where people go from your home page, what they click on most and what pages or subpages are least successful etc. Once you have gathered this information, then you can easily modify your website to guide your visitors where you want them to go.

While uploading images or videos on your website ‘just think small’. The size of images should be less than 15-20 KB per image. Slow websites are really annoying and huge images are the main cause of slow websites.

Test the usability of your website. Tell other people to go through all the pages of you website and then you can observe what they click on and what they ignore. According to this you can make changes to attract visitors.

The best thing about web design is that it is easy to make changes. So, never be afraid of changing your website design. If you have created a design and later it is not working as you had planned, then it’s better to change it.
