MP3 Audio To MP4 - Download Movies To Look At On Your IPod

Never before has a society been more �on the go� than we are. Hectic schedules require us to run from place to place and from activity to activity. Most of this running around takes place in our cars or on trains as we commute to and from work. If you are transporting kids everywhere and they are totally bored in the back seat, there is an easy way you can keep them entertained, and quiet!

Anyone who already has an iPod knows how great they are for listening to music; many people don�t realize you can watch videos and movies on them too. You should definitely maximize the benefits of owning an iPod by using them to view movies too. Many of the iPod models come equipped able to receive downloaded movies, but some do not. Before you can begin the process of downloading, you�ll need to find out if your model of iPod is movie-compatible. This can be simply determined by visiting the Apple website � there you�ll find a complete list of the iPod models, their specifications and capabilities.

Next, if you have determined your iPod can receive movies, you�ll want to hook it up to the USB port on your computer. (Don�t worry; the USB is clearly labeled and easy to access in almost every computer.) At the present time (though technology may change down the road), iPods can only play video files/movies which are saved in MP4 format. Most of the video and movie files are currently in MPEG, MPG or AVI format (and others), which are not iPod compatible. That is not a huge obstacle; however, because you can simply and quickly convert those files into MP4 so you can watch movies on your iPod.

If your iPod can receive movies, you can move on to the next step. Most movies and video files today are saved in formats such as MPG, MPEG and AVI files � the iPod can not read those files. So, it is necessary to convert these files into a new iPod-compatible format � which is called MP4. This can be easily and inexpensively accomplished by using a software converter program. There are many fine programs available; a few well-worth considering are: iTunes 7.0, iPod Blender and MP3 Rocket. Each of these programs (and many others) can complete the conversion process quite quickly. Even if you�ve never downloaded anything from your computer before, you will not find this a difficult process.

After the software is installed on your personal computer, you are ready to begin the process of converting the files into MP4 format. Plug your iPod into the USB port on your computer � USB�s are usually clearly marked and easy to find. After that, follow the simple instructions which will pop up on your computer screen until the download process is complete. The entire process can be completed in just a few minutes; depending upon how quick your computer is.

If you have DSL or high-speed cable, the process will be faster than if you rely on dial-up services. No matter what type of connection you have, the process is pretty quick and simple. Once you have converted your video files from your personal computer to the MP4 format they can be downloaded to your iPod. And, that�s it, you�re done; you can now watch movies on your iPod whenever you want to.
