Holy Bingo!

Bingo is a good social tool; one which could be credited with why senior citizens who play Bingo live longer than those who don’t. But no matter how many positive things you say about bingo; the fact remains – it’s gambling. And as we all know gambling is for sinner’s right?

As we all know, society frowns upon gambling. And the reason for that is because gambling has been (along with alcohol and drugs) one of the reasons for broken homes. The funny thing about this though is that as much as society frowns upon these ‘evil’ activities – the churches are Bingo halls!

Now if my facts are in order – gambling is gambling! Now in the US, Bingo is primarily staged by churches and charity organizations. And then those very same people look at you with ‘Holy’ eyes and pray for you as soon as you mention your poker winning streak in Vegas. Are they saying it make it less evil just because the gambling occurs in a church and not in raunchy Vegas; are they honestly trying to tell us that it’s a sin to gamble and the Lord will strike us down…unless the game has his blessings; in a church? Because if they are, I’m sorry to say; but the church is the biggest hypocrite of them all.

Yeah Jesus would probably freak out if he came to the a church and found people playing Bingo…sort of like the time when he found the people running a market in the temple; and he started tipping over their stands. But I reckon one thing that would piss him off more than the gambling itself is if the church was pointing fingers at us online and Vegas Bingo players; in the mean time they’re also playing that very same Bingo…in a church out off all places!

Make no mistake though, I’m not saying it’s wrong to play Bingo in the church; it is after all for a good cause (according to the pastor) all I meant was that it is wrong and evil to be a hypocrite – that’s all I meant. If a person chooses to gamble – it’s their choice! Who are we to point fingers and call him/her evil?

The saying goes; judge not lest ye be judged. So the next person who tries to make us Bingo playing sinners feel like we’re the worst people on earth; who are breaking up families…I just have one thing to say to that hypocrite – get a life and stop complaining about things that don’t even matter – get used to it! Bingo (or some form of) has been around since 1530; many people have tried to kill it; Vegas has deemed it un-cool for the “world’s gambling capital”…but the fact remains; Bingo will survive anything that’s thrown at it – from Y2K compliancy, to global warming. Heck there’s even online bingo now!
