E-Coupons Software Company could be as big as Google

A company in Dubai has been tipped by technology insiders within social media circles as having the potential to be as large as Google. H2O New Media a white label social media company issued a press release last week stating that it would launch its first e-coupons application that will actually send you a coupon when you are walking past a store based on personal preferences of the user, that’s pretty impressive but not necessarily a new idea, the thing that makes this nugget of information just a little more impressive is when you read the Blog of their founder who seems to be cooking up ways to utilize their social media technology to enable location based blogging and e-coupons delivery.
Imagine this, social media platforms hold an incredible amount of data, by applying correlation algorithms across this data you could potentially target advertising delivery to be so relevant it hurts. It’s a little hard to explain but let’s say you post your BMW 3 series to a website for sale, the next day you drive past 1 km of a Mercedes Garage and you get a message on your mobile phone “Free Track Test Drive with Mercedes Today” it is this level of highly targeted data advertising that offers the Gordian knot, the Holly Grail of social media. So what’s the issue? Well traditionally there is so much data to go through that it is impossible to make all of the required connections that make anything make sense. That’s where correlation comes in, correlation is used by Telecommunications operators, banks and many other companies to wade through massive amounts of data and make the relevant associations.
Steve Vaile the founder of H2O seems to have a pretty good awareness of this, in fact his last three companies were root cause correlation companies in the Telco space – (Check out his profile on linked in) so it makes you wonder why he is dallying around with a white label social media networking company. Reading Ad Nationme’s articles and a response from Vaile to a post on the article it seems as though they have the ability to apply this type of correlation to a vast amount of data in social media platforms and using web based location services to make exactly this type of connection. If that’s the case then the company will certainly be noticeable over the next few years. Based on the positioning of the H2O New Media website it seems as though they will offer this technology in a CMS which is a fork (Derivative) of the popular Joomla software as a white label provider.
So in terms of watching new technology companies – I am certainly keeping up to date with these guys in Dubai, it seems as though if the market rumors are justified that H2O may have something that will usurp some of the other Gorillas in this space, certainly interesting to watch.
