Creating Superior Invitations

By: James Burgess

Writing formal invitation letters has 7 aspects

Writing formal invitation letter: NO is about boundaries, identity, choice and truth.

Who are you? To whom are you writing? To what are you inviting the addressee? What choices are you offering? Can the recipient send an alternative representative? Usually the vast majority of us need to become much less confused about what we are trying to achieve. This concerns everything, from what is useful to avoiding unpleasant feelings. The mystery is to reach a clear mind and then to uncover the answers to whatever problems we have to deal with. The 7 Words System offers a straightforward intuitive means that allows us to achieve a much better sense of what precisely we are trying to find. The process opens with No. We need firstly to define precisely what it is that actually we don't want, what is not useful, before we can know what we do want.

Writing formal invitation letter: HELLO is about attention and exchange.

How can you make your letter of invitation sufficiently engaging to hold the attention of the reader? What will they 'bring to the table'? The following stage links with the word Hello. We need to open up to new possibilities if we have a desire to develop our choice of answers to the challenges that we face. You agree? To get something fresh we will need to extend our prospect of vision and look where we have not formerly looked previously. New dreams, new associates, new places and new things are clearly parts of giving consideration to something we have not until that time lived through. So we will have to at some point substitute old for new, that can tender something in reasonable return for what are trying to get.

Writing formal invitation letter: THANK YOU is about appreciating and valuing.

What is it about each potential guest that you appreciate and value? Can you mention this in your invitation? Between all available options, some are more pleasing than others and of course we want them to have a higher meaning, because we appreciate them more. This is explained by the primary word Thanks. Time and again, we disregard the worth of what we have, then blindly move into thanklessness and are likely to assume what should not be assumed. It's more than simply good manners to show our appreciation for things we treasure; it has a major effect in helping us to reach our ambitions. In some unconscious way, we are pulled to what we express our thanks for, and yet it's equally correct to say that we will be able to magnetize them to us too. We increase pulling power when we say Thanks and therefore, when we do so, we easily bring things to us.

Writing formal invitation letter: GOODBYE is about realization, decision, completion, and moving on.

If the person is unable to attend, what will you feel, think, and do? What will their absence or refusal to attend mean for you and for them? The word Goodbye is the fourth of the 7 primary words and relates to a process that has 4 clearly defined stages. They are: realization, decision, completion and moving on. What we are saying goodbye to a particular stage of development, which is observed basically as unmitigated elimination of a viable course of action that previously we had been going towards and in future will not follow. It is a turning point in our range of would-be outcomes. Goodbye is different from No because it is clear that there has been a degree of some level of connection already, which now needs to end compared to No's repudiation in the first place. Authentic decisions cut the past away totally and that sharpness initiates an opportunity that otherwise does not happen.

Writing formal invitation letter: PLEASE is about vision, intention and cooperation.

Does your invitation clearly state your vision? What cooperation are you seeking from those to whom you intend to send a formal invitation letter? The future opens out according to the things considered normal of the past unless we take control of it and shape it to our will. To do this obliges us to have a vision of how we want it to be; this vision has to be very clear, exact and optimistic—and converted into intention. They differ don't they - vision and intention? The first is rather illusory and the second is much more concentrated and willful. For a dream to become real there must be help. Nothing can be done without attaining the aid of other people - this takes expertise, perhaps influence, , even inspiration. It is not always obligatory to present something such as money or money's worth.

Writing formal invitation letter: SORRY is about responsibility, remorse, repair and release.

Are you clear about whose responsibility it is to ensure your guests arrive at the right place at the right time? Are you providing sufficient information to enable them to do this? If not, what can you now do to rectify the situation? Sorry, the 6th primary word, is best seen as making good damage done because we've been thoughtless or unmindful to the circumstances of another. The best plan is to make sure we forestall the need to say it by being understanding sooner. Why on earth should we? Well it's because anyone we upset could easily be inclined to act against us and lessen our chances of accomplishing what we intend, so it is obviously more judicious to take into account others as well as ourselves. This question is all to do with being responsible, having a degree of concern for anyone we've upset and making atonement when we've made a mistake. Then and only then will it ever be possible to forestall or patch up bitterness and leave go of the permanent nastiness that otherwise would develop and be a source of bitterness.

Writing formal invitation letter: YES is about permission and acceptance.

Some invitees may not be able to attend. Will you permit others to attend in their place? The last stage of our 7 Words structure is to do with acceptance; there are occasions when we simply have to bow to what we cannot change. The word is Yes. It would be lovely wouldn't it if we were able to make the world exactly the way we envision it - but in truth we can't. We always need to suffer what comes, and to take what is not exactly what we asked for. The best secret is to trust that everything in the long run turns around to our advantage, that the modifications to our plans are all improvements when seen in the perspective of the longer term. Certainly it's not easy to see it when we are still close and attached to our desires of course not! Still hold your fire and you may well see that the surprising incidents, the surprises and setbacks are actually the best bits masquerading as hardships.
